Health Information Advisory - Infant Formula Manufactured in China
On September 12, 2008, the FDA issued a Health Information Advisory to consumers and healthcare professionals regarding milk-based infant formula manufactured in China. The Chinese manufactured infant formula may be contaminated with melamine. Melamine artificially increases the protein profile of milk and can cause kidney diseases. Click here for more information.

Medicare Physician Fee Schedule On July 7, 2008 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released its Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule.  Contained in the proposed rule is a provision addressing the education requirements for Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists.  NAPNAP submitted comments to the rule on August 15, 2008.  The comments are based on the NAPNAP Position Statement on the Doctorate of Nursing Practice, approved by the Executive Board in April 13, 2008.

ASU Nursing Awarded a Federal Grant for the KySS Fellowship Program   
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recently awarded a three-year grant to ASU nursing college to support the KySS Fellowship for NPs in Underserved U.S.: Improving Child & Teen Mental Health. Click here for the press release.

Roundtable statement re: DNP Education, Certification & Titling
The NP Roundtable released its first statement about DNP Education, Certification and Titling: A Unified Statement.  The Nurse Practitioner Roundtable is a coalition of nurse practitioner organizations formed to collaborate, unify, and address issues of importance to nurse practitioners. The NP Roundtable is currently composed of seven organizations including AANP, ACNP, AFPNP, NAPNAP, NCGNP, NONPF and NPWH.  Click here to see this landmark document.
