bullet   Purpose
The Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) initiative, now in its seventh year and fifth funding cycle, provides funding to AI/AN Tribes or Tribally based organizations to create partnerships with research institutions and conduct high quality biomedical, behavioral and health services research that will be relevant to the needs of the Tribes. The purposes of the NARCH initiative are: (1) to develop a cadre of AI/AN scientists and health professionals engaged in biomedical, clinical, behavioral and health services research who will be competitive in securing NIH and AHRQ funding; (2) to increase the capacity of both research-intensive institutions and AI/AN organizations to work in partnership to reduce distrust by AI/AN communities and people toward research; and (3) to encourage competitive research linked to the health priorities of the AI/AN organizations and to reducing health disparities. Applications will be by hard copy (rather than electronic).
