Program Description

Y-Stress Inc., incorporated in September of 2000, is a woman-owned small business located in Pocono Summit, Pennsylvania. Safety Wired, our Training Technologies Division, develops custom blended learning solutions. Our mission is to make e-learning accessible, affordable, engaging and enjoyable. We are big advocates of blended learning, “the best of everything”. We believe that e-learning, coupled with state of the art media and technologies, is a vital component of any safety and health related training that teaches critical skills and complex concepts.

Y-Stress is working with the George Meany Center for Labor Studies - National Labor College (GMC-NLC) on our current SBIR project to create Safety E-Minders. Safety E-Minders is a system that will increase retention of in-class and/or online training information using current technologies, including wireless handheld mobile devices, to reinforce and remind students of the most critical messages or information to keep the workers and community safe and healthy. The delivery methods will include e-mail, text messages, and voice messages received by the students through computers, PDAs, and/or cell phones. It will utilize the findings based on current research regarding repetition, retrieval practice, and spacing to maximize learning and retention.
