The Laboratory will receive a "Raise the Roof" award at a United Way of Santa Fe County innovation awards reception on May 23 at La Posada in Santa Fe.
"Our Los Alamos employees can take pride in this accomplishment," said Dave Beck, Los Alamos' acting associate director for weapons engineering and manufacturing. Beck was chairperson for Los Alamos' recent giving campaign. "Once again, Laboratory personnel have shown through their generosity that their community is important to them and that they are eager to help those around them."
"The growing strength of the relationship between the Laboratory and United Way of Santa Fe County is something we're very happy about," said Katherine Freeman, United Way of Santa Fe County president and chief executive officer. "The United Way of Santa Fe County is committed to affecting lasting change and addressing the chronic conditions in our community through innovation."
The 2005 United Way of Santa Fe County campaign has raised about $1.1. Santa Fe's 2005 campaign continues through June 30.
The most recent Los Alamos/Northern New Mexico United Way campaign raised about
$1.18 million.
The Laboratory's 2007 United Way giving campaign is scheduled to begin Sept 25.
