The Texas Health and Human Commission (HHSC) provides oversight for the state’s health and human services agencies and programs. In addition, HHSC directly administers programs that provide assistance to low-income Texans. HHSC administers and determines eligibility for Medicaid, Food Stamps, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF). The agency also administers nutritional programs, services for victims of family violence, and programs that provide disaster assistance.
The Department publishes an annual report and pamphlets (in English and Spanish) describing its programs.
