Description
The Hawaii Department of Health provides a variety of health services through the following offices: Environmental Health Administration; Behavioral Health Services Administration; the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Administrator; the Personal Health Services Administration; the Health Resources Administration and the office of Health Statistics, which maintains vital records from 1841 to present, issue certified copies of vital records, collects and analyzes health date from vital records, a household health interview survey, and a Tumor Registry. Planning, Health Services Quality Assurance, and an Emergency Medical Service System are also included in this administration. The Community Hospital Administration manages a rural hospital network and several long term care facilities.

The Health Promotion and Education Division produces a number of newsletters, and the Research and Statistics Office publishes statistical reports on various health topics. Serial publications: Hawaii Health Messenger (newsletter), quarterly--information on health problems; Hawaii State Health Department Narrative Annual Report--summaries of all program activities; R & S Report (scientific reports), irregular--each issue presents a report on a particular problem; Annual Statistical Report of the Health Department--comprehensive health statistics; and a Communicable Disease Report.
