Project Engr I (Mechanical) (JH5325) - Requires an MS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent and ten plus (10+) years of relevant experience. Substantial knowledge of mechanical design, analysis, materials and advanced manufacturing processes is required. The candidate must have considerable experience in using 3-D CAD (Inventor or Pro-E), drawing standards and engineering codes. Knowledge of precision mechanical systems, instrumentation and control systems, and vacuum systems is required. Experience of X-ray detectors or beamline hardware is desirable. Previous work experience in an accelerator or light source facility will be given preference. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for interaction with a diverse group of scientists and technical staff, and candidates will be required to show evidence of successfully working within a project team. The candidate must be capable of producing written reports and should be competent in the use of MS Word and Excel. The main responsibilities include specification, design, analysis, fabrication/procurement, installation, and commissioning of X-ray beamline mechanical subsystems for the NSLS-II Project.
