Sr Technology Architect (I-10) - Control Applications (PE5094) - Requires a PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics, or equivalent experience; and a minimum of fifteen (15) years experience in control system design and applications, distributed control system architecture and distributed instrumentation. Experience must include the following areas: millisecond response times, timing /event systems that operate at the nanosecond accuracy and sub nanosecond jitter, high precision MHz signal digitization, global machine protection with response times under 100 msecs, and ten (10) years experience in programming in some combination of VHDL, C, C++, and Java in a real time environment. The successful candidate will support the development of the NSLS II control system architecture and have primary responsibility over hardware development for timing, fast orbit feedback, machine protection, and the integration of embedded device controllers. Responsibilities include: collect system and subsystem requirements, develop interface control documents, develop preliminary and final design documents, develop control system architecture options for cost/performance evaluation, lead prototype and development stages of development, implement, deploy, integrate, and commission control system for given subsystems, work as a contributing and productive member of a team of application engineers, and perform other tasks as they are identified. In addition, the successful candidate will develop code under LINUX and will have a proven track record of working within a team and have demonstrated communication skills.
