Sr Technical Specialist (T-3) - Mechanical (Reposting) (TB5019) - Requires an associateÆs degree in mechanical technology or equivalent, plus at least six (6) years of relevant work experience and excellent communication (written and verbal) skills. Will be required to perform mechanical machining, assembling of parts, handling of ultra-high vacuum equipment, motion control systems, and electrical and electronic equipment, etc. as necessary. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, mechanical design and experience in a R&D work environment is desired. Under the direction of the High Energy Resolution Optics Scientist and reporting to the inelastic X-ray Scattering Group Leader, the candidate will be responsible for operation and maintenance of (including procurement of materials and supplies for) the crystal fabrication and testing labs. Will perform crystal fabrication including crystal orientation, cutting, lapping, polishing, etching as well as high-precision dicing of single crystals using a fully automatic dicing machine. Will also assist with the construction, operation and maintenance of the optics R&D beamline at NSLS. National Synchrotron Light Source-II. Job No. 14396.
