Secure Your Load

Vehicles arriving with unsecured loads at public or private transfer stations in King County can be charged an unsecured load fee.

Solid waste handling, as defined in RCW 70.95.030 (external), includes management, storage, collection, transportation, treatment, utilization, processing and final disposal. The responsibility for administration of solid waste handling systems in Washington is divided among the state, counties, inter jurisdictional health departments and the cities. The governmental roles and authorities are delineated in federal, state, and county law; regulations; and agreements.

The major rules and regulations are intended to maintain the highest standards of quality for human health and environmental protection, including groundwater, surface water, soil and air.
