Southeast Arizona Drought Monitoring
(July precipitation data was Image to indicate an updated product on August 15th)
Preliminary August precipitation data will be posted by September 15th

Drought conditions update (as of August 12th) - For the period August 6th thru 12th, with the area in peak time of the monsoon, scattered thunderstorms some with heavy rain, continued during the past period.. No changes were made on this weeks National Drought Monitor with no short term drought across the area. HOWEVER, long term drought conditions continue to persist across the region with LARGE multi-year precipitation deficits to overcome.

Outlook through August 19th. Scattered thunderstorms, some with heavy rain will continue until the 16th before aerial coverage becomes isolated on the 17th through the 19th. For the latest forecast information, please check out the forecast discussion from NWS Tucson. The next update to drought conditions across southeast Arizona will be during the week of August 19th.
