Speaker Biographies

Junehee Kwon, PhD

  • BS in Food Science and Human Nutrition, Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea (1991)
  • MS in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management, Iowa State University, Ames, IA (1995)
  • PhD in Nutrition and HRIM, Iowa State University. (1999)

Dr. Junehee Kwon worked as an administrative dietitian in Seoul before coming to the U.S. for graduate study.

From January 2000, Dr. Kwon has been working as an assistant professor in the department of Nutrition and Food Sciences, Texas Woman's University, Denton, TX, mainly teaching foodservice systems management and quantity food production and services.

Current research interests include consumer food safety. Dr. Kwon was engaged in research "Food safety knowledge and behavior of WIC participants (a national survey)" from 2000-2002. Dr. Kwon and colleagues (Dr. Bednar, Dr. Kennon) are conducting USDA-funded research to develop food safety education materials for WIC participants.

Dr. Kwon is a native of Korea, and came to the U.S. in 1993.
