In the June 22, 2000, issue of "Report on Literacy Programs," editor
Dave Speights wrote "When Harvard University and World Education first
proposed to operate the federally funded National Center for the Study
of Adult Learning and Literacy (NCSALL), they said its primary focus
would be on improving practice at local adult ed and literacy
programs.
"They promised that by the end of the initial five-year grant
period, practitioners 'will be able to point to specific ways in which
the center has helped to improve their individual practice.'"

He went on to wonder "if local practitioners actually can point to
specific ways in which NCSALL has impoved the way they do their jobs"
and asked that responses to sent to him, dspeights@bpinews.com or to
the National LIteracy Advocacy list serve: nla@world.std.com.

FOCUS ON BASICS is published by NCSALL. If reading FOCUS ON BASICS or
NCSALL Reports, or participating in any other NCSALL-sponsored
activity has improved the way you do your job, please let us on the
Focus on Basics electronic discussion list know, too. Thanks.
