Thanks. I plan to include alot more than policies and procedures,
because I really think it's necessary, especially for new people to
Adult Ed to have some kind of reference, something they can refer to for
ideas, for understanding, for almost anything. I've enclosed my address
for you. :)

My address here at school is:

ATTN: Katrina Hinson
Lenoir Community College
Bulluck Building 180
PO Box 188
Kinston, NC 28502-0188

Katrina,

Our school has one, but it is mostly procedural and policies. It includes
things like how to fill out the attendance forms and what to do it you
are
going to be late. The name and phone numbers of office staff is awfully
important. If you send me your snail mail address, I can send you a
copy
of ours so you wouldn't have to reinvent the wheel. It also includes the
holiday schedule (really important if you are a new teacher and no one
tells you it is a holiday).

Some things ours doesn't have and I think should be included are the
email
links for NIFL and other adult education oriented sites that offer
information for professional development . For example, we have OTAN and

CALPRO in California and the Distance Learning group .These folks have
been
awfully helpful to me when I was trying to find curriculum or had a
question about something. It took me a while to figure out this stuff
existed. Another really helpful thing would be phone numbers for the
outside adult ed people that you always end up looking for phone numbers
for (CALWORKS, library literacy service, department of rehab, vocational
schools, community college, department of social services).
