Streamlining and Cost Saving Initiative

On September 15, Chief Knight approved 25 recommendations that will result in significant improvements in NRCS operations. These improvements are the result of the recommendations developed from 1,363 suggestions submitted last June by employees in field, area, and State offices through the online suggestion system.

Chief Knight assigned implementation oversight to the Associate Chief, with specific actions to be carried out by Deputy Chiefs, Regional Conservationists, and State Conservationists.

Monitoring the success of these recommendations and others will be an ongoing activity.

Chief Knight has said that there is a direct benefit to our customers for every increment of time and money we save. This effort can reduce the workload of people in the field and makes their jobs easier and more fulfilling, since 82 percent of NRCS employees are located in field, area, and State offices where the recommendations came from.

More information will soon be available.
