Grand fir trees grown by Larry Cooke, an NRCS environmental specialist in Washington State,
now stand decorated for the holidays in the offices of USDA Secretary Ann
Veneman and NRCS Chief Bruce Knight. Larry and his wife Margie own the Forever
Green Tree Farm in St. Maries, Idaho, so when the State was selected to provide the 2003 National Christmas tree,
the Cookes contributed trees for use in USDA and NRCS headquarters.
The Idaho Women in
Timber, an organization of women who support the wise and productive use of
our forest resources provided the wreathes in the three offices and help
arrange for the shipping and delivery of the trees to Washington D.C.
