The Office of Inspector General (OIG) completed an assessment of a network firewall and the procedures used for clearing data from computer storage devices in the process of disposal, transfer, or excessing at a NASA installation. The objective was to determine if the network firewall and computer storage procedures complied with published guidance and policy and provided appropriate protection for the installation's information technology resources.

NASA concurred with the report's two recommendations, which addressed improved operational effectiveness and management controls.
