Senator Carper talked with students from the economics, communications and business departments about the roles of elected officials, including United States Representative, State Treasurer, Governor and United States Senator.

Senator Carper donated blood to remind others of the importance of blood donation during the holiday season and to give Ohio State University a point. The Big Ten Blood Drive took place in Delaware in November, where Penn State, Ohio State and University of Michigan local alumni donated to see who had the most school spirit.

Senator Carper, invited by the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce, participated in announcing an exciting new project called Destination Station. The Center is comprised of an Energy Exploratorium, Visitor Service and Transit Center. The Educational Mission of the Energy Exploratorium is to inform visitors of all ages about energy principles and wise use of energy resources through an engaging, interactive exhibit program.

Senator Carper congratulated 2004-2005 Teacher of the Year Kathleen Thomas of Caesar Rodney High School. Thomas has been teaching for 20 years and currently teaches marketing education. Chosen from among 19 teachers who won teacher of the year honors in their districts, Thomas was the first teacher from Caesar Rodney School District to win the title in the program's 41 years.
