Public notices and hearing requirements

"Public notice" refers to legally-required notification designed to promote timely and informed public participation in certain land use proposals or government actions.

Applicants applying for actions or permit types described in chapter 20.20* (PDF, 518KB) of the King County Code (KCC) are required to provide public notification.

The State Environmental Policy Act of 1972 (SEPA) also requires public notification of environmental threshold determinations (TD) for these applications and other actions. For more information about SEPA requirements, see DDES Customer Information Bulletin #26, State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Process* (PDF, 146KB), or visit the Washington State Department of Ecology's SEPA rules (external link) for notification and related documents.
