MMS Regional Director Chris Oynes to Participate
on FPSO Press Conference Panel at Offshore Technology
Conference

Chris Oynes, Regional Director for the Gulf of Mexico OCS Region, Minerals Management Service, will take part in a Press Conference Panel on Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) systems at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston on Monday, May 6th, at 9 a.m.

The Minerals Management Service (MMS) recently approved the general concept of using FPSO’s in the central and western Gulf of Mexico, and there is heightened interest in FPSO’s on the part of the oil and gas industry.

The hour-long press conference panel discussion, "Outlook for FPSO’s in the Gulf of Mexico," will be held at the location of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), in the Houston Astrodome, Rooms 100/101A, on the 1st level, in the Reliant Center, next to the press room.

For assistance on any press-related matter at the conference, the OTC contacts are
Kevin McPherson (214-288-5622, cell)
Jennifer Patitz (972-989-6261, cell)
Sherri Scott (972-816-8598)

The Press Room itself is located in Room A1, 1st level, Reliant Center, adjacent to the Exhibition Hall A entrance. The telephone number for the Press Room is 832-667-3082 and the fax is 832-667-3110.

MMS is the federal agency in the U.S. Department of the Interior that manages the nation's oil, natural gas and other mineral resources on the outer continental shelf in federal offshore waters. The agency also collects, accounts for and disburses mineral revenues from federal and Indian leases. These revenues totaled nearly $10 billion in 2001 and more than $120 billion since the agency was created in 1982. Annually, nearly $1 billion from those revenues go into the Land and Water Conservation Fund for the acquisition and development of state and federal park and recreation lands.
