Fire Intentionally Set
Emporia, KS - Investigators and explosives/arson experts
on the scene have determined that the cause of the explosion and fire
at 707 Eastgate Plaza, Emporia, Kansas, was incendiary in nature. An incendiary
fire is an intentionally caused fire. This explosion and fire was not a natural gas explosion. A criminal investigation
(homicide) is presently being conducted by state and federal investigators.
Investigators have determined this criminal act is both a state and federal
violation. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Kansas Committee on Arson Prevention (1-800-KS-CRIME) for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person(s), responsible for the July 29, 2001 explosion and fire at 707 Eastgate Plaza, Emporia, Kansas. This investigation is continuing. Anyone with any information is urged
