Minneapolis - U.S. Attorney B. Todd Jones presented the annual United States Attorney's Law Enforcement Award to Jim Mazzon, a veteran special agent with the St. Paul Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for his sustained exemplary service in law enforcement.

During his tenure with ATF, Jim has worked on numerous cases that involve the prosecution of firearms crimes. One of the most notable cases was the prosecution of Donald Blom as a felon in possession of a firearm that resulted in Blom's conviction and 19-1/2 year sentence.

United States Attorney B. Todd Jones commented, "Jim's drive and dedication has always been reflected in the quality of his work. Firearms prosecutions are a priority in our district and Jim makes it happen."

Mazzon has been in law enforcement for nearly 19 years. He was an officer with the Carrollton, Texas Police Departemtn for eight years and received the Department's Officer of the Year Award in 1986. Jim joined ATF in 1989.

The USAO Law Enforcement Award is presented annually to a state, federal, or local law enforcement agent or officer who has made a significant contribution to the enhancement of state and federal cooperation in law enforcement.
