Anti-Violence Billboard Advertising Campaign

STOCKTON - A law enforcement partnership committed to reducing gun violence in our community is kicking off a new advertising program intended to deter criminal misuse of firearms. The program is intended to send a strong message to any criminal in this community who may consider illegally using or possessing a firearm.

United States Attorney John K. Vincent, Eastern District, Special Agent In Charge
John Torres, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), and Edward Chavez, Chief of Police, Stockton Police Department, announced this public awareness campaign today. This is in furtherance of the Project Exile 2000 Program.

Project Exile 2000 was initiated formally in Stockton last March. The Exile program directs multi-agency resources to aggressively pursue the criminal misuse of firearms by violent offenders. The approach employs the coordinated efforts of various agencies to evaluate each case where a crime gun is recovered and determine whether Federal or local prosecution best protects the community.

The first billboard has been installed at the intersection of California and Miner Streets.
