Encouraging Women Leaders to "Run"
Governor Lingle highlighted her commitment to mentoring new leaders at the "Ready to Run" conference, a bi-partisan program organized by the Commission on the Status of Women to encourage and train women to run for public office.
Maui Economy Moving Forward
At the dedication ceremony for the widened Mokulele Highway on Maui, Governor Lingle shared her optimism for the economic future of the state, with a major focus on Maui County. "Mokulele Highway is an example of what my Administration is accomplishing statewide," the Governor said.
Governor Observes Memorial Day
Governor Lingle honored the brave men and women of the United States armed forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as those presently serving the country during the annual Governor's Memorial Day ceremony at the Kane`ohe State Veterans Cemetery.
Advisory Working Group Makes Progress
The Governor's Turtle Bay Advisory Working Group held its sixth meeting on May 14, 2008. Members developed and reviewed various ideas and recommendations to acquire the Turtle Bay property and preserve it for future generations.
Hawai`i's Economic Future
In April, Governor Lingle shared her optimism for the economic future of the state in a major address before the Hawai`i Economic Association. "Hawai`i's future promises to be a successful and sustainable new era for our economy, one based on innovation and energy independence," she said.
Bill Signed to Encourage Biofuel Production
