May is Mental Health Awareness Month
As part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration's ongoing commitment to increase awareness of mental health issues in the State of Hawai`i, Governor Lingle proclaimed May as "Mental Health Awareness Month."
Governor Highlights Military Partnerships
Governor Lingle emphasized the importance of partnerships between the state and military at the annual U.S. Pacific Command Commander's Conference, which brought together commanders and senior leaders from across the Pacific to discuss strategy and issues affecting the region.
Farrington Presents Strategic Plan
Governor Lingle joined Farrington High School Principal Catherine Payne, staff, students, parents and community partners as the school presented its strategic plan for the future.
Governor Outlines Strengths of Hawai`i's Economy
Governor Lingle shared her optimism for the economic future of the state in a major address before the Hawai`i Economic Association on Friday. "Hawai`i's future promises to be a successful and sustainable new era for our economy, one based on innovation and energy independence," said Governor Lingle.
Military Appreciation Month Kicks-Off
Governor Lingle honored the nation's men and women in uniform and their families at the 23rd annual Military Appreciation Month opening ceremony and highlighted the many ways in which the military is partnering with the State of Hawai`i to improve the lives of residents.

The Governor's Turtle Bay Advisory Working Group held its fifth meeting on April 24, 2008. Members developed and reviewed various ideas and recommendations to acquire the Turtle Bay property and preserve it for future generations.

Hawai`i Chosen for Energy Project
Governor Lingle and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability Kevin Kolevar announced the selection of a Hawai`i project as part of a nationwide demonstration to modernize the country's electricity grid system.
