POLICY- INTRODUCTION
The Federal Career Intern Program was established by Executive Order 13162 on July 10, 2000, to attract men and women to the Federal workforce who have diverse professional experiences, academic training, and competencies, and to prepare them for careers in public service. By drawing individuals with diverse backgrounds, the Career Intern Program provides a continuing source of trained men and women to meet the future challenges of public service. The Career Intern Program rules and regulations outline the authority, the policies and the administration of the Career Intern Program.

of Personnel Management Federal Register Notice provides the Federal regulatory
document which allows for the implementation of the Career Intern Program.
The
USDA
Career Intern Program Plan provides information on the roles and responsibilities
of the Office of Human Resources, Mission Area/Agency Personnel Officers, Career
Intern Program Manager, Mission Area/Agency Recruiters, Mission Area/Agency
Career Intern Program Coordinators, Interns' Supervisors, Career Intern Mentors,
and Career Interns. It also provides general information on training policies,
