Fundamentals of Life Cycle Cost Analysis Live Instructor Lead Distance Learning Course

This blended training course provides the participants with an introduction to the techniques used in evaluating life-cycle costs of competing project alternatives.

This training course presents the course material in a series of live instructor led on-line lessons, with each module focused on a different aspect of life-cycle cost analysis. The following lessons are included in the course:

  • Course Introductions
  • Module 1 - Process and Overview
  • Module 2 - User Costs
  • Module 3 - Probabilistic Analysis
  • Module 4 - Course Review, Evaluation, and Examination

During this course, you will have a series of workshops and exercises. These activities underscore some of the key points of the presentation material and allow course participants the opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of the course outcomes. In addition, there is a course examination at the end of the course.

Target Audience

The target audience for this course includes planners, finance professionals, design engineers, individuals responsible for directing and managing maintenance operations and budgets, maintenance project and treatment selection, and/or the monitoring of system conditions.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this lesson, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate basic Life-Cost Cycle Analysis (LCCA) principles.
  2. Describe how and in which situations LCCA principles apply.
  3. Explain why LCCA principles are beneficial.
  4. Explain the benefits of using RealCost software to account for risk in LCCA.

Course Schedule

The course begins with a live online session to provide an introduction and cover the material of lesson 1. The participants will review Lessons 2 and 3 before the second synchronous session. The 2nd live session contains a review of lessons 2 and 3 as well as provides opportunities for questions and feedback. Following the 2nd session, participants will take the final exam.
