Public Schedule for the Week of September 22-26, 2008

September 22, Governor Lingle and representatives from the National Association of Mental Illness Hawai`i chapter will highlight collaborative efforts being undertaken by the state and its partners to improve mental health services throughout Hawai`i.

September 22, Governor Lingle will announce this month's recipients of the Governor's Innovation Awards.  The awards, which are part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration's Hawai`i Innovation Initiative, recognize deserving individuals, companies, nonprofits, organizations and government agencies that are developing innovative ways to improve Hawai`i and to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

September 24, Governor Lingle will host the fifth annual International Women's Leadership Conference, which will feature women leaders from eight nations, including: the first female police chief in the nation's capitol, the first female Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) at the Tower of London, the first African-American female combat pilot, the first female and first Filipino-American executive chef of the White House, the U.S. ambassador to the Philippines, an Australian business executive specializing in cultural change in the workplace, a CFO of an international developer of advanced defense and aerospace systems, and a Sudanese refugee who is now a paralegal in a top legal firm.
