Governor's Public Schedule: January 28 - February 1, 2008

January 28, 10:00 a.m. - Governor Lingle and Andy Karsner, assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy, U.S. Department of Energy, will announce details of the Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative that was previewed by the Governor in her State of the State Address.  This unprecedented and innovative federal-state partnership is designed to help Hawai‘i achieve energy independence and security by using the state’s local energy resources, as well as the latest national and global advancements in renewable energy development.

January 30, 9:30 a.m. - Governor Lingle will deliver remarks at the Meeting of Major Economies on Energy Security and ClimaChange. The meeting, which is being hosted by the United States, is a follow-up to the global warming conference held in Bali in December and the first meeting held in Washington, D.C. in September.  Fifteen nations (Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States), the European Union and the United Nations are scheduled to participate.

January 30, 4:00 p.m. - The Governor will take part in the swearing-in ceremony for The Honorable Katherine G. Leonard, Judge of the Intermediate Court of Appeals. 

February 1, 10:30 a.m. - Governor Lingle and Andy Karsner, assistant secretary for energy efficiency and renewable energy, U.S. Department of Energy, will tour the Kaheawa Wind Power Project Farm in Ma‘alaea, Maui.

February 1, 12:00 p.m. - Governor Lingle will deliver the keynote address at the Maui Chamber of Commerce luncheon, where she will outline her Administration’s priorities for the 2008 legislative session.
