Public Schedule for the Week of June 30-July 4

June 30, Governor Lingle will announce this month’s recipients of the Governor’s Innovation Awards. 

July 1, Governor Lingle will sign bills that support the State’s efforts to increase energy independence and reduce reliance on imported fuel through the development of clean, renewable energy.
 
July 1, The Governor will recognize Castle & Cooke Hawai‘i, which is marking its 40th anniversary since it first began developing the master-planned community of Mililani.
 
July 1, Governor Lingle will participate in the launch of the new Center for Okinawan Studies within the University of Hawai`i’s School of Pacific and Asian Studies. 

July 2, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues on her monthly radio show from 7:05 - 8:00 a.m. HST.  Listeners are invited to call 808-521-8383 from O‘ahu or 888-565-8383 from the Neighbor Islands with questions and comments.  The show can be heard live statewide on O‘ahu (KHVH 830 AM), Maui/Kona (KAOI 1110 AM), Hilo (KPUA 670 AM), and Kaua‘i (KONG 570 AM). 

July 2, Governor Lingle and Lt. Governor Aiona will join students, educators and business leaders from across the state at a showcase of Hawai‘i’s robotics programs, including FIRST Robotics, FIRST LEGO League, Botball, Underwater Remote Operating Vehicle, VEX Robotics, and Micro Robotics.  The event will feature exhibits and demonstrations of the six major student robotics programs.  The exhibition is part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s continuing effort to ensure every elementary, middle and high school in Hawai‘i has a robotics program as a means to foster science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. 

July 3, Governor Lingle will meet with eight junior ambassadors who will represent Hawai‘i at the 20th annual Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention in Fukuoka, Japan.

July 3, Governor Lingle will preside over the pinning ceremony for Col. General Gary Hara, assistant adjutant general, Hawai‘i Army National Guard, to mark his promotion to Brigadier General.

July 4, Governor Lingle will celebrate our nation’s 232nd anniversary of independence at the Kailua Fourth of July Parade.

July 4, The Governor will join our men and women in uniform and their families at the annual Schofield Barracks 4th of July Spectacular.
