Public Schedule: February 11-15, 2008

February 11, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues on the afternoon drive-time radio show from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. HST with host Mike Buck.  The public is invited to call in at 521-8383 with questions and comments.  The show can be heard live on KHVH 830 AM. 

February 12, Governor Lingle and State Health Director Chiyome Fukino, M.D., will meet with environmental officials from Guam, American Samoa, and Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, as well as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, who are in Hawai‘i for the Inaugural Meeting of the Pacific Basin Brownfields Response Team.  The state Department of Health is hosting the three-day meeting (Feb. 11 – 13), which will lay the foundation for a long-term collaboration among the Pacific islands to improve environmental response programs.  The Hawai‘i Environmental Response Program addresses emergency situations as well as long-term cleanup of toxic releases.  The term “brownfield” refers to land that is contaminated and must be cleaned up before it can be redeveloped.

February 13, Governor Lingle will join Rep. Corinne Ching and the Liliha community in celebrating the grand opening of the Liliha Town Welcome Center.  The center was created to encourage civic participation, provide education and information about Liliha’s unique heritage and culture, showcase the area’s schools and community facilities, and support the neighborhood’s businesses and civic organizations.

February 15, The Governor will participate in the opening of the KPHC Downtown Family Medical and Dental Center, a new satellite clinic of the Kalihi Palama Health Center.
