Norcal Waste Systems of San Mateo Logo San Carlos Selects Norcal for Garbage, Recycling & Organics Collection
At their October 13, 2008 meeting, the City Council approved a resolution that directed the City Staff and the South Bayside Waste Management Authority (SBWMA) to begin Franchise Agreement negotiations with Norcal Waste Systems of San Mateo County to become the new Solid Waste, Recycling and Organics Collection firm in San Carlos starting on January 1, 2011.

With this action by the City Council, the City of San Carlos is now the 6th of the 12 SBWMA agencies to move these services to Norcal Waste Systems in 2011. More significantly, these 6 agencies represent almost 70% of the Solid Waste tonnage among the SBWMA agencies as shown in the table below:

Vote with Smart Voter 2008 Presidential Election - Voting Is Now Underway !

Voters in San Carlos will be asked to cast their ballots for several important offices and ballot measures in the 2008 Presidential Election that is now underway.  Here is a list of links from the SmartVoter.Org web site that will provide you with more information on the candidates running for office as well as the ballot measures before the voters at the State, County and Local level. 

 

We encourage all San Carlos residents to study the issues, research the positions of the candidates and cast their vote in this important election.

News Image Burton Park Playground Project - Opening October 23rd at 5:00 pm
Please mark you calendars for a community celebration to open the new Burton Park playgrounds and water spray area.  The official opening and ribbon cutting of the new Burton Park Playgrounds is on Thursday, October 23rd at 5:00 p.m.  We hope you can join the celebration.

Mayor Brad Lewis will officially open the new playgrounds.  Mayor Lewis will be joined by members of the City Council, Parks and Recreation Commission, Burton Park Playground Committee, Advocates for Accessible Recreation and the Parks and Recreation Foundation of San Carlos, and many of the individuals, families and businesses who helped make the playground possible.  This will truly be a community celebration of a two year design, fundraising and construction process.
