Tides and Current Partnerships

NOAA's Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) has developed the following partnerships with the marine community. Links are on the left side of the page.

Hydro - Hydrographic Survey Support - CO-OPS provides services such as tidal zoning, datum information, and predicted and verified water-level data in support of hydrographic surveys.

Marsh Restoration - CO-OPS provides services such as providing local datums, assesing long-term sea-level change, and computing the frequency and duration of inundation analyses.

Army Corps Projects -

TCOON - Texas Coastal Ocean Observation Network - In 1988, the National Ocean Service (NOS) and the Texas General Land Office (GLO) entered into a Memorandum of Agreement in recognition of common interests in the determination of tidal datums and other related activities in coastal waters of the State of Texas.

St. Charles Parish - The St. Charles Parish Water Level Monitoring System was established through a partnership between the NOAA/NOS/CO-OPS and St. Charles Parish. This real-time water-level monitoring system will provide critical information for saving lives, protecting property, and restoring the environment in this Louisiana community.

Caro-COOPS - Carolinas Coastal Ocean Observing and Prediction System - In the fall of 2002, the NOAA Coastal Services Center awarded a grant to a partnership of universities in North and South Carolina for the establishment of a regional observing system for the Carolinas. CO-OPS was requested to provide technical support for the establishment of three water-level stations.

GoMOOS - Gulf of Maine Ocean Observing System - During the winter of 2003 CO-OPS and the Gulf of Maine Ocean Observing System (GOMOOS) discussed how both groups could mutually benefit from the observing systems that they operate in the Gulf of Maine (GOM). GOMOOS is a national pilot program designed to bring hourly oceanographic data from the Gulf of Maine to all who need it.

CSDL - Coast Survey Development Lab (CSDL) - CO-OPS partners with NOS's Coast Survey Development Lab to develop, evaluate, and implement real-time computer-based oceangraphic Nowcast Forecast modeling systems for seaports and estuaries.
