16th Annual Maryland Centenarians Recognition
Luncheon
May 8 2008 - Shelia Sayles, Manager of the Reisterstown Plaza
Complex, served as the Chairperson for the 16th Annual Maryland
Centenarians Recognition Luncheon. SSA sponsored this annual event
along with The MD Department of Aging, The Community College of
Baltimore County at Catonsville, and The Baltimore City Commission
on Aging and Retirement Education. The event brought out many of
Maryland's Centenarians who were eager to share both their wisdom
and talents with everyone. Some Centenarians danced while others
sang. Social Security Area Director, Jackie Collins-Miller, served
as the keynote speaker for this event. During her speech, Jackie
extended her congratulations to all the Centenarians and their
families. In addition, she mentioned SSA's "Highlight" initiatives
including the Medicare
Part D Extra Help and SSA's
Online Services. Prior to the ceremony, Erica Easter, Public
Affairs Specialist in Baltimore MD, hosted an exhibit and distributed
over 200 Mother's Day Extra Help pamphlets and fact sheets to attendees.
Erica provided over 50 Extra Help applications for interested beneficiaries.
