Homeless Veterans Outreach in Philadelphia
Richard Gaudiosi, Social Security Administration (SSA) Philadelphia
Public Affairs Specialist, Mary Ellen Sweeney, SSA Claims Representative,
and Carlos Araujo, SSA Management Support Specialist, assisted
homeless veterans at “Stand Down”, an outreach event
designed to help homeless military veterans redirect their lives.
The “Stand Down” was held at the National Guard Armory
in Northeast Philadelphia.
This annual event gives homeless veterans the opportunity to
meet with representatives of various government and social services
agencies. They receive information on services available to veterans
that can help them make positive life changes. Richard, Mary Ellen
and Carlos hosted the SSA exhibit and answered many questions for
the veterans. They also assisted several vets with Social
Security Number Card applications. SSA has supported the "Stand
Down" outreach event since its inception 12 years ago.
