South Asia - Floods Fact Sheet #2 (60kb PDF)

Map of South Asia

Beginning in early June, exceptionally heavy monsoon rains led to widespread flooding, affecting Bangladesh, India, and Nepal. In addition, in late June, a cyclone and heavy rain affected Pakistan, resulting in severe flooding in two southern provinces.
USAID/OFDA responded to the flooding through the provision of disaster assistance funding in India, Nepal, and Pakistan and through continued support for flood preparedness programs in Bangladesh. In addition, USAID/OFDA continues to fund regional preparedness programs in South Asia.
