April 13, 2007 - Passing Meaningful Tax Relief Legislation

"Last week I spoke with you about tax relief, and I would like to share some additional thoughts on this important subject.

Remember this year your federal taxes must be filed by Tuesday, April 17 and your state taxes by Friday, April 20.

While you have a few more days to file, please use some of that time to contact your state legislators about passing meaningful tax relief legislation.

My comprehensive tax-relief package will assist those who need it most, and directly benefit families who care for both young children and aging parents.  We also want to reinstate the excise tax exemption on ethanol-based fuels which would help lower gas prices.

I want to make sure more of your hard-earned dollars are returned to you!

Call, email and submit testimony to your state legislators to make your voice heard so we can help lower the cost of living in Hawai`i."
