April 21, Governor Lingle and Kevin Kolevar, assistant secretary for electricity delivery and energy reliability, U.S. Department of Energy, will hold a news conference to announce additional progress on the Hawai`i Clean Energy Initiative.  The unprecedented partnership between the State of Hawai`i and U.S. Department of Energy aims to increase the state's energy independence by using clean, renewable resources to supply 70 percent or more of Hawai`i's energy needs by 2030. 

April 21, Governor Lingle will present commendations to cadets of the Punahou JROTC program, which includes students from 13 high schools and one home-schooled cadet.

April 21, Governor Lingle will discuss state issues on the afternoon drive-time radio show with host Mike Buck.  The public is invited to call in at 521-8383 with questions and comments.  The show can be heard live on KHVH 830 AM.  Recordings of radio shows are archived on the Governor's Web site www.hawaii.gov/gov.

April 22, Governor Lingle will hold a news conference to make an important announcement regarding the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument.  The Governor will be joined by Lynn Scarlett, deputy secretary, U.S. Department of the Interior, and retired Navy Vice Admiral Conrad Lautenbacher, undersecretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

April 22, The Governor will join Kevin Kolevar, assistant secretary for electricity delivery and energy reliability, U.S. Department of Energy, at the first regulatory workshop as part of the Hawai`i Clean Energy Initiative.  The workshop, led by national experts on utility regulation, is intended to inform and equip Hawai`i regulators with the tools and options to move Hawai`i toward the goal of having 70 percent of the state's energy needs come from renewable sources by 2030.

April 24, Governor Lingle will join 57 first-graders from Le Jardin Academy during a class visit to historic Washington Place.

April 24, Governor Lingle will honor our nation's men and women in uniform and their families at the 23rd annual Military Appreciation Month opening ceremony. Events throughout the month of May will celebrate the military's presence in Hawai`i and recognize the vital contributions to our society, communities and economy.

April 25, The Governor and Lt. Governor will participate in the dedication of the Sullivan Family Library on the campus of Chaminade University.

April 25, Governor Lingle will deliver a major address on the present and future state of Hawai`i's economy at the Hawai`i Economic Association Annual Conference.

April 26, Governor Lingle will help kick off the March of Dimes March for Babies, a fundraiser to support the organization's efforts to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
