July 28, The Governor will meet with the contestants of this year’s Samoan scholarship pageant sponsored by the United Samoan Organization of Hawai‘i (USOH). The Le Lalelei O Samoa Scholarship Pageant highlights young Samoan women who are either enrolled in post-secondary institutions or are recent high school graduates intending to enroll or who have applied and been accepted to Hawai‘i colleges. USOH has awarded scholarships and prizes amounting to more than $10,000 to young Samoan women in each of the last two years.

July 28, Governor Lingle will announce this month’s recipients of the Governor’s Innovation Awards.  The awards, which are part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s Hawai‘i Innovation Initiative, recognize deserving individuals, companies, nonprofits, organizations and government agencies that are developing innovative ways to improve Hawai‘i and to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

July 30, Governor Lingle will meet with eight junior ambassadors who this month represented Hawai‘i at the 20th annual Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention in Fukuoka, Japan. Each year, the Governor meets with the junior ambassadors before they leave and upon their return to hear the students’ impressions about Japan and their home-stay exchange experience.  The program is coordinated by the Japan-America Society of Hawai‘i.
