COX-2 inhibitor (kox...in-HIH-bih-ter)

 Cyclo-oxygenase-2 inhibitor. A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to relieve pain and inflammation. COX-2 inhibitors are being studied in the prevention of colon polyps, and as anticancer drugs. Also called cyclo-oxygenase-2 inhibitor.
