Edward Teller was
presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civil honor, during a special ceremony at the White House in July 2003. “Edward Teller helped to shape the course of human history,” Bush said in presenting the medal, awarded for Teller’s lifetime of achievements.
Laboratory co-founder Edward Teller was honored with many awards during his lifetime, including: the Albert Einstein Award (1958), the Enrico Fermi Award (1962), the National Medal of Science (1982), the Presidential Citizens Award (1989), the Hungarian Corvin Medal (2001), and Secretary of Energy’s Gold Award (2002).
