EDUCATION-REFORM BILL TO BE INTRODUCED WEDNESDAY

Gov. Ritter, bi-partisan legislative sponsors and statewide education leaders will hold a news conference at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday to mark the introduction of the Colorado Achievement Plan for Kids legislation.

Gov. Ritter will be joined by Sens. Chris Romer and Josh Penry and Reps. Christine Scanlan and Rob Witwer in the West Foyer to discuss the bill and what it means for the future of education in Colorado. Members of the Colorado education community also are expected to attend.

The legislation will overhaul content standards from pre-school through high school, establish new proficiency benchmarks to measure student knowledge, and align these new requirements with college-admission standards.
