GOV. RITTER APPLAUDS SELECTION OF ALLIANCE FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY TO OPERATE AND MANAGE NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY LABORATORY

Gov. Bill Ritter today applauded the U.S. Department of Energy's selection of the Alliance for Sustainable Energy to manage and operate the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden.

"The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is one of the key reasons Colorado is quickly becoming an international leader in the New Energy Economy," Gov. Ritter. "This selection will allow the state of Colorado to now work in partnership with ASE and become an even stronger participant in the ongoing success of the world’s pre-eminent alternative energy research lab.

"NREL -- in partnership with Colorado and the Collaboratory institutions -- is uniquely positioned to diversify the nation's energy portfolio, strengthen our economy and create new jobs and economic possibilities for all. ASE will build on NREL's successes to date and accelerate the commercial deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies."

The Collaboratory's members are NREL, the University of Colorado at Boulder, Colorado State University and the Colorado School of Mines. Those three universities also are exclusive partners with ASE.
