GOV. RITTER APPOINTS 14th JUDICIAL DISTRICT JUDGE

Gov. Bill Ritter today announced he has appointed Mary Clarkson Hoak of Fraser to serve on the District Court bench of the 14th Judicial District. The district covers Grand, Moffat and Routt counties.

Hoak currently serves as a county court judge in Grand County, a position she has held since 2003. In 2002 and 2003, she served as a deputy district attorney in the 5th Judicial District Attorney's Office. Prior to that, she worked as an associate at Otten, Johnson, Robinson, Neff and Ragonetti in Denver (1992-1993), and was a sole practitioner for nine years (1994-2003). She earned a bachelor's degree from Vassar College in 1987 and obtained her law degree from the Law School at the University of Chicago in 1992.

The District Court judgeship in the 14th Judicial District is a new position created pursuant to House Bill 07-1054. The initial term of office is a provisional term of approximately two years, and if retained by the voters, a term of six years.
