Unemployment compensation to be extended by federal program

North Dakota's Unemployment Rate 2.5% for October
Job Service North Dakota Executive Director Maren Daley reported that labor statistics released today show North Dakota's October not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.5 percent. The October statistic is largely unchanged from the prior month's rate of 2.6 percent. The rate is also very near October of last year which was 2.3 percent.

Gov. Hoeven Announces Reduction in UI Tax Rates
Gov. John Hoeven today announced a reduction in the average unemployment insurance tax rate from 1.18 percent of taxable wages in 2007 to 0.95 percent of taxable wages in 2008, bringing the average tax rate below 1 percent.
