DENVER BUSINESS LEADER TO RECEIVE NATIONAL AWARD FOR SERVICE TO STATE

The National Governors Association (NGA) recently announced that William "Bill" Lindsay, III will be receiving its Distinguished Service to State Governments Award in the Private Citizen category.  First Lady Jeannie Ritter will present the award to Lindsay during the NGA's Centennial Meeting on July 13, 2008, in Philadelphia, PA.

"Bill is so deserving of this honor because he serves as an exceptional role model in public leadership and enacting positive change," Gov. Ritter said.  "He has dedicated over twenty years to improving health care in both the public and private sectors and he has provided an invaluable and irreplaceable service to the citizens of Colorado."

Nominated by Gov. Bill Ritter earlier this year, Lindsay is currently President of Employee Benefits for the Denver office of Lockton Companies, LLC, and recently served as Chair of Colorado's Blue Ribbon Commission for Health Care Reform (also known as the 208 Commission).  In the mid-1990s Mr. Lindsay served as the inaugural Board Chair of the Colorado Children's Basic Health Plan at the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, and he has been involved in a variety of other health care reform and public policy initiatives.

Lindsay is also an integral part of Colorado's business community and a national leader on small business issues.  He is President of the Benefits Group for the Denver office of Lockton Companies, LLC, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, where he chairs the Health Committee. Lindsay is a past Board Chair of the National Small Business Association, the oldest small business association in the United States.

The NGA Selection Committee has recognized Lindsay as one of only three national recipients of the NGA award for Distinguished Service to State Government in the Private Citizen category.  Awards will also be given to three recipients in the State Official category and to two citizens for Distinguished Service to the Arts.
