Dependable

Cmdr. Laura M. Dickey, commanding officer of Coast Guard Cutter Dependable home ported in Cape May, N.J., is interviewed by Greg Brown, a reporter from NBC 40, a southern New Jersey news station,  Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 here.

The Dependable left Wednesday for a deployment to the Carribbean.

 Hurricane Evac Return

Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., personnel unload the last of their gear from the last HC-130J Hercules to return Sept. 7, 2008, that was evacuated for Tropical Storm Hanna.

Six Hercules and six HH-60J Jayhawk helicopters are based in Elizabeth City. Two of each aircraft remained at the air station for search and rescue operations if needed. The last Jayhawk is scheduled to return within a few hours of the last Hercules.

 Pre-flight check

A flight mechanic does a pre-flight check on an HC-130J Hercules aircraft prior to evacuating Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., Sept. 5, 2008.

This aircraft along with three others will evacuate leaving two behind for search and rescue.
