Other info. - This aquatic species is common in the southern 1/2 of Missouri. It is commonly seen when not in flower with its leaves submerged and being pushed horizontal in the current of water. Fertile plants have long erect leaves and resemble a cross between a sedge and a cattial until flowering.
The genus Sparganium is in its own family, which has about 14 species.
