SUBJECT:  Notice – 45 CFR Parts 261, 262, 263 and 265, Reauthorization of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program; Final Rule.

1.  Purpose. To transmit a notice of final rule concerning 45 CFR Parts 261, 262, 263 and 265, Reauthorization of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program.

4.  Substance. This final rule implements changes to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program required by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA) (Pub. L. 109–171). The DRA reauthorized the TANF program through fiscal year (FY) 2010 with a renewed focus on work, program integrity, and strengthening families through healthy marriage promotion and responsible fatherhood. The effective date of this final rule is October 1, 2008.
