TELEPHONE CUSTOMER SERVICE PUBLIC FORUM AGENDA


The FCC's Consumer Information Bureau (CIB) will hold a Telephone Customer Service Public Forum on Friday, June 9, 2000, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm in the FCC's Commission Meeting Room at 445 12th Street, SW, Washington, DC.

The forum will begin with opening remarks by FCC Chairman William E. Kennard, who will present the results of a one-month study recently conducted by the Commission's Consumer Center on telephone customer service center complaints. Moderated by Lorraine Miller, CIB's Bureau Chief, consumers and consumer organizations -- including WRC-TV's consumer reporter, Liz Crenshaw, and representatives from the senior, Hispanic and disability communities -- will share their customer service experiences, challenging local, long distance and wireless telephone companies to initiate efforts to better serve consumers. Discussions will include: Consumer Center Study: Fact Gathering Process, Consumer Group Experiences, Special Constituency Issues, and What is Good Customer Service? Following the panel discussions, there will be a question and answer session.

The forum is open to the public and seating will be available on a first come, first served basis. The event will be accessible in live video, audio and captioning formats through the FCC's website at http://www.fcc.gov/realaudio/.
